OL12
Buckley wood is a former water board site which originally hosted 3 lodges. In the 1980’s the largest trout water was drained and the site was sold to Rochdale MBC.
The club have a 20 year lease on both waters.
Our fishery at Syke is held on a long lease from Rochdale Council and is located to the east side of Syke Road, Rochdale. The postcode for sat nav users is OL12 9TF. Access is gained through a locked gate and across the farmers field between Syke Methodist Church and Hazel Grove farmhouse.
The main water is approximately 1 acre and upto 16 feet deep with most pegs having over 10 feet. There are 24 permanent pegs and a stock of most coarse species.
Please take extra care when visiting this venue as the banks are steep and the pathways can become very muddy in adverse weather conditions.
The Society also has a small pond at this venue which is shallow, much easier to fish and can provide great sport in winter when most other venues fail to produce. New concrete pegs and other work to the small water and paths was undertaken by member, Daz Wright using grant money secured by Barry Watkins.
A NO KEEPNET policy unless in official club matches.
Can we please make sure the gate is locked at all times with both locks. Litter needs to be taken home as no bins are provided at this location.
